Importing Contacts from a CSV
The two import modes, which columns are required for each, and why everything you import arrives with calling and texting switched off.
Verified August 13, 2026 · FastIQ staging; /app/leads/import, both tabs, Leads workspace badge v1.10.0
Leads > Lead Import opens a page called Import Contacts, and it has two separate modes behind tabs at the top. They do different jobs and land your records in different places, so pick the right one before you upload anything.
Read the safety notice first
A banner sits above both tabs, and it describes the single most important thing about importing:
- Every imported contact has Do Not Call and Do Not Text enabled.
- AI enrollment is set to Manual.
- Contact permissions must be enabled individually, after you have verified consent.
This is deliberate. An imported list is exactly the situation where you cannot assume consent, so the product refuses to make that assumption for you. Nothing you import will be called or texted until someone turns those permissions on for that contact.
Past Clients — your historical funded book
Use this for a closed-loan list carried over from a previous lender or system. Everything uploaded here is imported as funded or closed and appears in the Past Clients view — not in your active pipeline. It will not clutter your working list.
Three columns are required: First Name, Last Name and Email. Phone is optional here, so a list without phone numbers still imports.
The optional columns are Phone, Date of Birth, Loan Amount, Loan Purpose, Property Address, Property City, Property State, Property Zip, Property Type, Loan Type, Credit Score, Funded Date, Closed Date, Loan Officer Email and Notes.
There is a Download Template button on this tab. Start from it rather than guessing at header names.
CRM Import — an active book from another system
Use this for live leads rather than closed loans. Maximum file size is 10MB.
There is no manual column-mapping step. Recognised column headings are mapped to lead fields automatically, and the page lists every heading it recognises, including:
- Names — First Name, Last Name, Middle Name, or a single Name column.
- Contact — Email, Primary Phone, Cell Phone, Mobile Phone, Home Phone, Work Phone.
- Addresses — Street Address, and separate Mailing and Property address, city, state and zip columns.
- Loan detail — Loan Amount, Purchase Price, Property Value, Down Payment, Credit Score, Annual Income, Loan Type, Loan Purpose (or Purpose), Property Type.
Matching those names in your export is what makes an import clean. A heading the page does not recognise is not mapped for you.
What you cannot set from a CSV
- Lead source — there is no source column in either mode.
- Pipeline status — Past Clients imports are funded/closed; you do not choose a status.
- Contact permissions — set individually afterwards, as the safety notice says.
Loan Officer Email on the Past Clients tab is how you assign records to a specific loan officer.
